Student Recognitions

    Students from Birdville High School’s Educators Rising Chapter were recognized for winning various competitions at the national conference in Orlando. Winners were:

    • Megan McMahon and Ryan King placed second in the nation with their Children’s Literature K–3 entry. Together, McMahon (the author) and King (the illustrator) presented their published book.
    • Jaylee Martinson placed ninth in the nation in the Educators Rising Moment competition in which she delivered a presentation of her journey toward becoming an educator.

    Zane Sheffield (not pictured), Birdville High School, placed second at the SkillsUSA National Leadership Conference in the mobile electronics installation event.

    Violet Treaster, Claudia Medina, Sunny Simmons and Sara Morales from Haltom High School; Nayla Singleton and Maddie Mayo from Birdville High School; Brianna Gilpin from Richland High School; Abigail Busbice from Shannon High School; and Kirsten Maiwald, retired ¹í¹È×ÓÍø teacher; were recognized for their work on the new Portrait of a Graduate mural to be hung in ¹í¹È×ÓÍø’s Professional Learning Center.

Summary of Actions


  • Approved the donation from: 

    • Richland High School boys basketball boosters to Richland High School’s boys basketball program.

    Approved the order authorizing the issuance and sale of “¹í¹È×ÓÍø Unlimited Tax School Building Bonds, Series 2023–A.”  

    Approved the agreement for the purchase of attendance credit from TEA and delegated contractual authority to the superintendent. 

    Approved the 2023–24 Student Code of Conduct and Extracurricular Honor Code.

    Approved Board Secretary Ralph Kunkel as an official voting delegate and Board Vice President Kris Drees as an alternate delegate to the 2023 TASB Delegate Assembly.

    Approved the 2023–24 budget amendment for 2022–23 incomplete projects.

    Approved the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the TCU College Advising Corps.

    Approved the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the ESC Region 11 Texas Reading Academies.

    Approved the Birdville Regional Day School Program for the Deaf (RSDPD) Shared Services Arrangement Agreement.

    Approved the 2023–24 T-TESS appraisal calendar. 

    Approved the 2023–24 T-PESS appraisal calendar.

  • Approved the bids/purchases for:

    • Catering, snacks, and food related services from multiple vendors;
    • Third-party custodial staffing services from 1 Stone Solutions, LLC;
    • Livestock trailer from D&D Texas Outfitters;
    • Printing and copying services from multiple vendors;
    • Concession supplies from multiple vendors; and
    • Installation of emergency egress gates at elementary campuses from Goldsmith Construction Company.

    • Cisco network equipment from Flair Data Systems;
    • Air Balancing for Bob E. Griggs High School and Linda Kunkel Specialized Learning Center from Engineered Air Balance;

    • Structured cabling, security and audio-visual equipment for Mullendore Elementary from Superior Fiber and Data Services, Inc.
