  • BENEFITS FOR PART-TIME EMPLOYEES AND SUBSTITUTES

    Part-time employees are defined as those regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours per week. Part-TIme employees and substitutes are eligible for medical benefits as long as they maintain an average of 10 hours of work per week. 

    Retirement Savings and Social Security: Employees who are not eligible for TRS membership must complete a 457(b) FICA Alternative Plan and Trust Agreement and have contributions deducted. This account also substitutes for Social Security; earnings as a part-time employee for the district will not be reflected on a Social Security statement.     Medical Benefits: Part-time employees may elect medical coverage through the district as long as they work at least 10 hours per week, but are responsible for the full cost of the coverage with no district contribution. Premiums are paid through payroll deduction on a pre-tax basis unless selected otherwise. Monthly medical premiums for single coverage are as follows:
